Step into a world where Jane Austen meets the dancefloor in Pride & Prejudice: The Hoedown Edition — a joyful, high-energy event like nothing you’ve experienced before. This immersive pop-up show transforms classic storytelling into a social event, blending a reimagined Pride & Prejudice set in Mrs Bennet’s saloon in 1930s Wild West with a lively line-dancing party.

Arrive, enjoy a drink, and learn a few simple line-dancing steps (no experience needed!). Then watch the drama unfold around you as Lizzie, Darcy and co re-tell a favourite tale as you’ve never seen it before. Join them on the dance floor as the story weaves through fun Wild West versions of a Regency Ball! And for a high octane finale, cut loose with anthems and songs you know and love! Anything goes!

Perfect for groups, birthdays, or anyone looking for a fun and immersive experience. This is theatre turned inside out: interactive, social and seriously uplifting. Round up your friends, come with your partner or fly solo – either way you’ll have a truly memorable occasion!

The show moves around the dance floor, and so will you!

You’ll want to be on your feet to join in and to allow room for dancing there is no fixed guaranteed seating. The performance will move around the room and so will you meaning your view of the action will vary!  Our actors wear mics ensuring you can always hear what’s going on wherever you are (as if you didn’t know already!) So dig out your favourite dancing shoes, dust off the cowboy boots and get ready to party!

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Part theatre show, part hoedown, and entirely unlike anything Jane Austen could ever have imagined. Expect storytelling, live entertainment, line dancing, music, mischief and a room full of fellow Austen fans (or Austen newbies) ready to have a ridiculously good time.

A bit of both! You’ll enjoy a fully hosted Pride & Prejudice-inspired show as well as being invited onto the dance floor for some easy-to-follow line-dancing and the chance to just boogie. No expertise required. Enthusiasm encouraged.

Let’s just say Mr Darcy may be a little more comfortable in cowboy boots than Jane Austen originally intended. The heart of the story remains, but this version brings its own playful spin.

We’d like to believe she’d be horrified for approximately five minutes and then secretly have the time of her life.

Not at all. Our instructors will guide you through everything you need to know. Whether you’re a seasoned line dancer or possess two left feet, you’ll fit right in. This is hoedown Austen-style and so anything goes – and probably will!

Anything from cowboy boots and checked shirts to Regency gowns and tiaras. Fancy dress is completely optional, but we love seeing guests embrace the spirit of the event.

This is not a seated event – think live music gig. All venues offer some seating, although the amount and style varies depending on the location. Some venues are designed as dance halls, while others offer separate areas for relaxing between activities. We ask guests not to reserve seats or claim a spot for the duration of the event so everyone has the opportunity to take the weight off their feet when needed.

Every venue will have an area for coats and larger bags. We recommend cross-body bags to keep essentials with you.

Yes! We’ll have hats, neckerchiefs and other merch to buy.

Absolutely. Many of our guests come solo and quickly make new friends. The event is designed to be welcoming, inclusive and highly sociable.

Absolutely. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply gathering fellow Austen enthusiasts, the event makes a memorable group outing.

Doors open 30 minutes before the event starts. We open with a group line-dancing lesson (all very gentle!) and then the show begins.

You miss out on a whole heap of fun! But otherwise, no problem. You just grab a drink at the bar and try and work out what on earth is going on!

From doors opening to doors closing is four hours of fun (even longer at The Fable, if you’re having lunch first)! The show finishes around three hours in and then there’s one hour of getting down on the dance-floor. So book your taxis for any time between 5pm – 5.30pm for afternoon shows and 10.30pm – 11.00pm for evening performances.

No. While the content itself is not unsuitable for younger audiences, this is an 18+ event because we want to provide a space where adults can completely let their hair down.

Yes. Please be respectful that others are trying to enjoy the show and so please don’t obscure views. But we want you to capture all the fun you are having!

Well, we’re pretty sure you won’t want to be nattering to Auntie Cheryl whilst so much is going on, but yes, you can use your phone. Just please be respectful of those around you and so move away from the action. Elizabeth Bennet appreciates your cooperation.

The event finishes with a disco which in most venues will entail flashing lights and smoke.

Each venue has its own personality, so it depends on the experience you’re looking for.

For a lunch-and-show experience: The Fable, City of London includes a welcome drink and one-course brunch or lunch, with the festivities beginning 90 minutes earlier.

For a more intimate party atmosphere: Labyrinth, Epsom and The Roxy, Soho offer a closer-to-the-action nightclub feel with a lively dance floor.

For a classic dance hall experience: The Bedford, Balham; The Stag, Sevenoaks; and Fiery Bird, Woking offer larger spaces designed around dancing and socialising.

The lunch event includes a welcome drink and one-course brunch or lunch and begins approximately 90 minutes before the main event, giving plenty of time to settle in, meet fellow guests and start the celebrations early.

The Stag in Sevenoaks offers a larger space with more seating within the main room. Other venues may have more limited seating, particularly around the dance floor itself. This is not a seated event, however and so we ask people to not secure a permanent spot and share the opportunity to take your weight off your feet.

Labyrinth in Epsom, Fiery Bird in Woking, The Fable in the City and The Bedford in Balham all offer additional spaces where guests can take a break from the dancing and social activity if needed.

Faithful-ish (in a vague kind of way). The romance, wit and memorable characters are all present, but we’ve added a healthy helping of country music, dancing and playful chaos.

Not at all. If you’ve read the book, you’ll enjoy spotting the references and twists. If you haven’t, you can simply lean back and enjoy the ride.

Yes, but only the fun kind. You’ll be invited to dance and join in with the atmosphere, but nobody will be forced into the spotlight.
